Mission Spaghetti Dinner

Chesterton United Methodist Church Mission Team will be hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, February 28 from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm. The cost is $5 per person. Pancake Breakfast

The Chesterton High School Football Boosters will be holding their annual pancake breakfast held at the Chesterton Moose Lodge on 620 Broadway. Enjoy an all you can eat breakfast! Snowshoe Shuffles return for another month. Meet the interpreter at the Nature Center to learn a little about this unique mode of transportation, and then we'll jump on a pair and take short winter walk to try them out. It's great fun and exercise. We offer our final shuffle of the winter on Sunday, March 2 at 10 a.m. The next shelf ice exploration will be Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. These beach meet ups offer the chance to learn how shelf ice is formed, as well as a safe and awesome look at them from atop the historic beach pavilion. Each exploration meets outside the beach pavilion.

Prime Rib Dinner is Back!

The Chesterton Duneland Kiwanis Club is happy to announce that the Prime Rib Dinner is back by popular demand! Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 1 for the 4th annual dinner at Third Coast Spice Café in Chesterton. Two seatings are available: 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $30.00 per person. Carry out orders are also available. (Please order in advance). Tickets are on sale now, and are available at Third Coast Spice Café, 1st Source Bank, and Harris Bank. Reservations are required. March Series Begins This Weekend!

Loving Fitness

Now Offering Dobutsu Do

 

Loving Fitness to offer Dobutsu Do. This 45 minute class will focus on animal movement and beginning Parkour. Animal movement is a great total body work out for building strength and flexibility. Students will prepare for beginning Parkour. (Parkour is a training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training.) Classes begin March 4. As a part of the 22nd Annual Opportunity Enterprises Gala, OE is selling raffle tickets. The lucky winner, to be announced at OE's Gala on March 8 at Avalon Manor, will receive a 2-year, 10,000 mile-per-year lease on a red 2014 Volkswagen Beetle. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the front desk of OE Main, OE Lakeside, or online. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Opportunity Enterprises and their Respite Program. Father-Daughter Dance

Saturday, March 8 

 

On March 8, the Duneland Family YMCA Gym will be transformed for the Y's first father-daughter community dance "HOLLYWOOD: A Night To Remember, Be the Star YOU Already Are." The Y's very own paparazzi will be on hand to snap keepsake photos. Attendees will enjoy snacks, desserts, refreshments, play games and, of course, dance! This evening is for fathers (uncles, grandfathers, and guardians) and daughters ages 12 and under. The cost is $20 per couple and $7 for each additional girl. Spirits at the Water Bird

Saturday, March 8 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

  

The Water Bird Lakeside Spa & Banquet Center, along with Pat's Liquors and the Chesterton High School parent Band Boosters Association, will host a beer and wine tasting fundraiser. This event, known as "Spirits at the Water Bird" will take place at the Water Bird Lakeside Spa & Banquet Center. In addition to the sampling of various wine and beer labels, hors d'oeuvres will be available. There will be door prizes and drawings for select gift baskets. Tickets for the event are $35 per person, or $60 per couple if purchased before Monday, March 3. After that date, the ticket pricing will be $40 per person, and $70 per couple. Patrons of this event must be 21 years of age.  Tickets are available at the Water Bird Lakeside Spa & Banquet Center and at Pat's Liquors. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the CHS Band Booster Association in support of the CHS Band program.

This is a new think-tank group co-founded by Apryl Niksch, Founder of Harvest Circle Workshop and Joe Moreno, Partner of Impact Solutions. We will conduct a working brainstorm session for one hour. Summer Camp


Campers from 6 to 16 explore the beaches, prairies, dunes and woodlands of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore while bog stomping, bug hunting, night hiking and more at Dunes Learning Center summer camps. Coffee Creek Watershed Conservancy

Stewardship Saturdays

 

"Dig In" and make a difference at the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve during monthly volunteer workdays. All are invited to join the fun while building bird houses, planting trees, investigating nature and IDing bugs. Held at the Pavilion located at 157 E. Porter Regional Hospital

Porter Health Care System Names New CEO      

 

The Board of Directors of Porter Health Care System announced that Stephen Lunn will serve as its new CEO effective March 24. Lunn has more than 10 years of hospital leadership experience. Since 2011, Lunn has served as CEO of Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Lunn's achievements earned him the 2012 CEO Excellence in Leadership Award from Community Health Systems. "We are delighted to name Stephen as Porter's new CEO," said Dave Rose, chairman of the Porter Health Care System Board of Directors. "As an experienced healthcare executive, Stephen has a thorough understanding of the transforming healthcare marketplace. We look forward to his leadership to build upon Porter's mission of providing quality, patient-centered care and enhancing its role as a vital asset in our community."
